I’ve been working on something called ExG2 for quite some time now. The work has been quite sporadic, done under times of great influence or some weird force of motivation. Last time I did something on this was last spring. But back in he days when this project was more active it even had it’s own website. And then OlmWeb happened and I promised to move the ExG2 project here but… something apparently went wrong.
My memory, that is…
Well that’s about to change right now. I’m now posting the latest release of this project, an alpha version, for developers interested in this project. Since it’s an alpha version the code is still quite ugly in places and the documentation is… well, nonexistent
For those of you not in the loop wondering “what the heck is ExG2 anyways?!”: ExG2 is a mySQL+PHP driven, powerful, highly customizable, easy-to-use online image gallery. There are tons of these, I know, and ExG2 is most definately one in the line. It’s different from large systems like FlickR, Picasa and Coppermine in that this is meant to be owned and run by you. So you can have a completely different level of control. Simply put: if you want a simple to use online image gallery and have the least bit of development skill (ie. editing textfiles and using FTP!) than ExG2 is for you
Enough with the slick sales person talk. Download ExG2 below and try it out. Although it’s still alpha, most of the programs features work splendidly well! If you have any questions at all I’d be ecstatic to help. Just click “comments” above!
